BioI'm not shy anymore, but I used to be that loner kid who preferred to pick up sticks on the playground, strip off the bark with my finger nails, and burnish the wood until it was smooth and slick. I still do that sometimes when I'm really stressed out, but now I can at least carry on a conversation with you while I'm doing it, and I have invested money in tools that make this peculiar behavior acceptable. Now people just say that I'm eccentric, or rather, just a little bit queer.
